Summer 2026 Travel Placement

Tavaura Wardlow is a fourth-year Juris Doctorate/Master of Social Work student at Florida State University with a strong commitment to civil and human rights advocacy. She plans to pursue a career in impact litigation, with a focus on supporting children in the juvenile justice system and individuals in immigration detention. Her experience includes serving as a Racial Justice Fellow, leading as President of the Black Law Students Association, working with the ACLU of Florida’s Immigrants’ Rights sector, and advocating for individuals on death row through the Federal Public Defender’s Office. This summer she will be working in the Immigrants' Rights sector of the ACLU of Florida. As a legal intern, she will conduct legal research to support federal immigration cases involving human rights violations and constitutional issues, including 1st and 6th Amendment claims. She will also be collaborating with law firms, community-based organizations, and clients to advance immigration advocacy initiatives and expand legal resources for immigrants. Moreover, she will monitor, track, and analyze immigration policy in Florida, while also composing memos on immigration efforts and enforcement at the micro, mezzo, and macro levels. Shaped by her upbringing in Central Texas and her identity, Tavaura is driven to use her legal and social work training to advance justice for marginalized communities.
