Advocacy

Since it was founded, the Center has worked with numerous vulnerable populations and individuals with a focus on providing direct assistance to victims of human rights abuses. CAHR has provided pro bono legal representation to asylum seekers, victims of torture, abused immigrant women, victims of violent crimes, survivors of human trafficking, and unaccompanied foreign national children. It has represented hundreds of human rights clients seeking immigration relief.

The Center also sponsors a series of human rights summer internships. Many are annual placements through partner FSU departments and colleges, and several are available each summer on a competitive application basis. Almost all involve engagement with human rights NGOs (non-governmental organizations) with whom CAHR partners throughout the world.
